Springs Toledo is the author of 4 books. His writing has been featured on NPR’s Here & Now, recognized over 40 times by the BWAA, honored in The Best American Essays (2019, 2020, 2022, 2023), and published in Ploughshares, City Journal, Salon, The Sweet Science, Boxing News, Mizan, 360 Review, and Plough Quarterly. He has appeared on the Travel Channel and in the award-winning documentary I Am Duran (2019). 

     Born and raised in Boston, Springs is a product of the underclass, parochial schools, and boxing gyms. He holds an advanced degree in criminology but attributes any talent for storytelling to the street corner. His subjects of choice tend toward the familiar: outsiders, underdogs, rogues, rebels, and the red-light district of sports.
